According to Edwin Black, author of the new book Internal Combustion, Henry Ford and Thomas Edison attempted to bring back the electric car in the 1920s or thereabouts but failed due to sabotage. If they had succeeded, electric cars could've been the norm for the past 80 years. Here are more details:
